In Memorium: Timothy Andrew Gilbert (1941-2007)

I was honored to be able consider Tim Gilbert my friend and my mentor. I met him in the late 90's, when he had yet to get online, and we would exchange letters the old fashioned way. I visited his home in Mt. Carmel over the years, and I roomed with him at RPM meets. Many hours were spent at the Walker Transportation Collection in Beverly, MA, digging through those substantial resources, and many meals were shared. When Tim finally succumbed to his long bout of cancer, he directed his files to come to me, and so his computer arrived on my doorstep. I will begin to offer much of his material here, to include articles, letters, spreadsheets, and transcriptions, as Tim would want his knowledge freely shared, as he did during his lifetime.

The Maine Bullet was inaugurated on June 15, 1931, dramatically improving service between Maine and points South. This transcription includes an article published in Railway Age, Jun 27, 1931, and material included in the August 1931 issue of the Boston & Maine Employees Magazine.
